Mayoral Candidates Put On The Record on Midtown [News Release]
WLO publishes the Mayoral candidates’ responses to key questions about the future of Midtown Oakville
OAKVILLE, ON September 28, 2026 – With Midtown Oakville facing major decisions about its future, We Love Oakville (WLO) has asked all of Oakville’s mayoral candidates to respond to a series of questions on the issues that will shape Midtown and affect residents across our town.
Today, WLO is publishing the responses received to date from the mayoral candidates on three important questions related to their involvement in the planning and development of Midtown, including the role of the Town vis-a-vis the Province:
1. What did you learn?
2. What did you do?
3. What will you do if elected Mayor?
The candidates were also asked to address three other issues:
• The 38 story height limit
• The use of town owned land
• Provincial overreach
The responses provide meaningful insights on the candidates’ positions on the future planning and development of Midtown, including the role of the Town in determining its future, the Province’s involvement, the Oakville Transit-Oriented Community (TOC), OPA 70, and other issues like infrastructure, transportation, community facilities, public land and transparency.
“Midtown is one of the most consequential issues facing Oakville,” said George Niblock of We Love Oakville. “Residents deserve to know where the candidates stand on the decisions that will shape Midtown for decades.” Jim Goodfellow added “We asked the same questions of every candidate and are making their responses publicly available so residents can consider them for themselves.”
The candidate responses are being published in their own words, alongside the questions asked by WLO. Where a candidate has not responded, that is also noted, and this compilation will be updated when a response is received.
WLO is encouraging residents, community associations and local media to read the responses and consider what each candidate has said about Midtown before the municipal election.
